Saturday 11/3 continued

While Jerry was getting the tire fixed, I took a walk along the Kenawa River.  This is downtown Charleston and they have a delightful walkway.
A couple of blocks away were docked two ships, replicas of the Nina and Pinta. Can't imagine crossing the ocean in a ship this size...makes one really appreciate Columbus's voyages.

The Nina

The Pinta with the Nina behind it.

Would have enjoyed the tours they were selling, but we decided to get on the road.
By the time we got back to the RV, had lunch and put the repaired tire on Kanga, we finally hit the road at 1:20.  I-64 and I-77 south - tollroad but we only paid $7.50 total in fees - a lot cheaper than OH!    Climbed up in the Appalachian Mountains to 3252' at Flat Top.  Some snow left from Sandy lingered on the mountainsides and in the green grass.  The trees were still a little colorful, especially the red oaks.  Went through two tunnels.  Passed exits to interesting sounding names....Mossy, Oak Hill, Rocky Gap and Gloseclose.

Filled up the Ram at the BP in Bristol, TN - $3.99/gal plus we got to use our rewards card for $2 off...big deal...lol.  Better than $4.19/gal we saw up in the mountains.  Caught I-81 and went about a half hour til we were tired and needed to stop.  Landed just off the highway near Kingsport.  Snuggled up to a Super 8 motel who were nice enough to let us park there.  Happy hour and left over chili hit the spot.  I watched the KS/OK football game - fun as KS was really hot.  Early to bed, even with setting the clocks back.  Traveling is tiring...lol!  Glad to be in warmer weather!
