Tuesday, November 7

Cloudy/party cloudy and rainy off and on.  Jerry and Mike visited a transmission shop to inquire about tweaking the Dodge truck.  Will take it in Wed. night for work on Thurs. am.  Naps and working on the computer made for a relaxing day.

Stormy's friend Susan came over for dinner and chefs Stormy and Sue concocted the most awesome dish.  Low country grits and shrimp!  Was so awesome!  Will share if anyone wants the recipe.  French silk pie was the crowning touch.  WOW were we in food heaven.  Susan was fun and we had a great time getting to know her.

Wednesday, November 8

More rain/clouds and cold, but Mike and Stormy were hankering for some tamales sold at a flea market in Pickens, SC.  So about 9:30 we put lots of layers on and took off (in the car...not on the bikes - we're not crazy, just crazy about riding.  LOL)  Wandered the booths.  Jerry bought two audio books and Stormy got two pair fuzzy socks.  We bought fresh green beans and another tomato to do grits and shrimp again for Friday night's supper.  Ate some of the awesome tamales for lunch along with hot coffee and hot cocoa to warm us.  A bit more wandering, then watched the blue grass musicians playing...huddled around the wood stove...welcome heat and fun to watch.

Home by 12:30 and a nap for all was in order.  I worked on typing genealogy notes from my research in OH.  By 5:30 we took off in two trucks; dropped off Jerry's truck at the transmission shop and went to Denise's home for dinner.  Nothing is close here in rural SC...you have to drive 10-25 miles for anywhere, but it sure is beautiful territory!

Denise's farm is lovely - She has wonderful decorating taste with lots of horses and antiques.  She was all ready for us with a huge roaster of chicken, veggies and potatoes cooked in chicken broth.  A salad with greens, craisins, apples and walnuts was a great accompaniment.  WW bread warmed in the oven along with some wine made the meal complete.  Oh, then dessert was pretty dessert cups with berries, pudding and whipped cream....and/or cheesecake with warm caramel sauce.  WOW.  Met friends Mary Anne and Laura who were also there for dinner.  Stormy rides  bikes with them.  Fun people and a simply delightful evening.  Stormy and Mike are wonderful hosts.
